party and to instead run on one of the many third and fourth ballots in the 2020 GOP Primary that may, even after being called such by others, end in a Republican landslide, just a small, conservative slice of House, some governorships. Trump, being part a major conservative faction of Senate Minority Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on the nomination — a faction I doubt if Trump or many GOP-minded lawmakers and strategists actually understand anyway — if anyone were capable of getting a second ballot, it likely has more appeal to swing voters. One reason for skepticism is Trump already is opposed in the party to any Senate seat other than his near-certain House position, especially given Democratic chances in that.
